Appointment of Anna Neovesky as Professor of Digital Humanities at the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences

Anna Neovesky was appointed Professor of Digital Humanities - Hybrid Education and Communication Spaces at the Faculty of Building Technology and Computer Science at Erfurt University of Applied Sciences on August 1, 2024. The professorship includes a 50% partial secondment to the University of Erfurt. With the appointment of Ms. Neovesky, a professorship will be implemented jointly by Erfurt University of Applied Sciences and the University for the first time, which represents significant progress in the academic landscape.
The appointment also has an impact far beyond the state borders of Thuringia.

For the first time in Germany, a Digital Humanities professorship is anchored at a technical college and a university at the same time

The 38-year-old Prof. Dr. Anna Neovesky sees her professorship as a great opportunity: “The digital professorship at the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences with partial assignment to the University of Erfurt offers the opportunity to develop digital methods for the humanities with a strong application connection to computer science.” She emphasizes the important connection between the humanities (University of Erfurt) and Applied Computer Science (FH Erfurt). The humanities act as an excellent application discipline for digitalization. And that opens up new perspectives and points of contact for the applied computer science students at the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences.
“The digital professorship will also help to convey overarching topics at the FH Erfurt and the University of Erfurt and expand the synergies between the disciplines and the universities. The aim is to promote digital skills not only in applied computer science, but also in other disciplines,” says Prof. Dr. Frank Setzer, President of the Erfurt University of Applied Sciences.
The Professorship of Digital Humanities – Hybrid Education and Communication Spaces is funded by the Thuringian Ministry of Economics, Science and Digital Society (TMWWDG) as part of the “PROF-IT 25” program. “PROF-IT 25” is part of the Thuringian strategy for digitalization in the higher education sector and aims to strengthen digital skills in academic training.
