Treasure hunt in the city center goes into the second round

During the last summer holidays there was a big treasure hunt in the city center for the first time. After its great success, it will be offered again this year - with a few small innovations.

Participation is also possible for groups

“This year we want to appeal to both school children and holiday children as well as working parents with their children – and all in a single week,” says city manager Patricia Stepputtis. The treasure hunt will therefore take place not only on three school days and two holiday days, but also on a Saturday - from June 17th to 22nd, 2024.

“The route and the tasks, which are intended to appeal to different age groups from primary school children to teenagers, are once again challenging to organize. It’s good that Erfurt Tourismus und Marketing GmbH and the city and regional library are closely involved in the planning and preparation,” says Patricia Stepputtis gratefully. Library director Frank-Joachim Stewing also looks forward to the treasure hunt: “As the city's 'living room' and extracurricular location, it is a matter of honor and a matter of the heart.”

The search is challenging for preschool children, but is possible with support. It is advisable for groups to choose Wednesday as their testimonial day.

The treasure hunt takes around an hour and a half. Starting in the children's and youth library, the treasure map leads the searcher over the fish market, the town hall bridge, Kürschnergasse, Schlösserstraße, in the direction of the Kleine Arche, to the Waidspeicher theater and finally to the city and regional library on Domplatz. Anyone who solves the tasks correctly will receive a three-digit code at the end that can be used to open the treasure chest at the destination. This includes the lots with all prices.

Retailers and restaurateurs are supporting the campaign again this year and are sponsoring many prizes. “Last year the children were crazy about our main prize, the Playstation 5, so this year it will be our drawing card again and therefore take first place,” says Patricia Stepputtis.

Using the registration portal for groups at www.erfurt-tourismus.de/schatzsuche , schools can now plan the treasure hunt as a special offer for the last days of school or holiday care. If you would like to take part in the treasure hunt individually, you do not have to register.
