Salomonsborn

District with a view

First impression is confirmed above

Salomonsborn is not hiding. The place is clearly visible on a hill above Erfurt. If you live on an upper floor in northern Erfurt, you have a good chance of seeing Salomonsborn in the distance. The place also shows itself again and again from the agricultural areas that stretch west of the state capital from the Andreasviertel to Gispersleben.

That looks nice and interesting and so the question arises for those who haven't been there yet: What does it really look like up there? We drove up to this place, which residents affectionately call “Salome”. At the roundabout we turned towards the old village center

and walked a lap through Salomonsborn. What the first impression promised from below is confirmed above. The village center with the St. Dionysius Church is a well-kept center.

Lots of prospects

The old farmsteads of the former “field village” have been lovingly restored. In the village there is a telephone booth converted into a book exchange, an inn and the football field. Anyone who plays here has already won something: a wonderful view of the state capital.

And that brings us to where Salomonsborn really scores. The view of the Thuringian Basin, the Geraaue, the city - hardly any other place in Erfurt offers so many views.

A useful addition to transport connections

The village has retained its rural character not only in the center. Although the majority of residents live in houses that were built after the fall of communism in 1989, visitors will encounter the agricultural heritage in many corners of this Erfurt district.

An overgrown trailer stands in the agricultural part of Salomonsborn.

The distance back to the core city is approx. 10 km. A route that can be easily covered by car, less easily by bike and, at the right times, by bus. This facility therefore represents a useful addition to the town's transport connections:

There is a ride-sharing bench in Salomonsborn, a district of Erfurt in the state of Thuringia.

A ride-sharing bench signals to passing drivers that people sitting there want a ride. We couldn't try out how this works. We drove our own car past an unoccupied bank back to Erfurt. Of course with a “look”.
