The Peterbach near Erfurt
Idyll between the highway and the industrial area
The Peterbach is not Erfurt. Its source area is in the Weimarer Land,
right here:
Only after he has passed through the horse pond does he head towards Erfurt.
It crosses the Autobahn 4 and reaches the Erfurt area at the Vieselbach junction. From then on it slowly becomes romantic.
The actual Peterbachtal begins there. In the upper part a power line disturbs the perfect idyll,
But at Rohda/Haarberg it gets really nice.
The Petersbach valley retains this rural flair up to Büßleben.
The stream itself can often only be seen as a stream bed:
The Peterbach does not have continuous water. Through the Erfurt district of Büßleben, past the church there,
the Peterbach flows towards its unspectacular end. It's over before Linderbach. The Peterbach loses its name at the mouth of the Linderbach, which itself changes from the Urbach (again) to the Linderbach. But that's another story
Conclusion: The Peterbach and the Peterbachtal
The Peterbach rises south of Autobahn 4. The area consists of small forests and extensive meadows - atypical for the area around Erfurt, where every square meter is otherwise "cultivated". The background noise of the nearby motorway alone disturbs the nature experience here. If that doesn't bother you, you can discover a few things here:
The actual Peterbachtal begins north of the motorway, then already in the Erfurt urban area. At Rohda-Haarberg and Büßleben, the Peterbach flows through what is probably the most rural part of the state capital. But only if the stream also has water - that's not always the case. Most of the time the stream bed is dry, but of course the idyllic valley is always there.
