What special exhibitions can be experienced in the Erfurt museums in the next six months? The newly published special exhibition booklet from the Erfurt Museums provides information about this. Here you will find current and new exhibitions from the areas of art, nature and history, which will be shown in the museums from August 2024 to January 2025 inclusive.

The story of the Erfurt Feiner family will be told in the Topf and Sons memorial site until January 12, 2025. The central exhibit of the exhibition is the diary of the daughter Marion, who called herself Miriam after emigrating to Palestine. The destabilization of the city in 1873 is discussed in “ Erfurt Unleashed ” in the city museum. The “Zum güldenen Krönbacken” house will also be open again until October 31, 2024. “Between Reality and Romanticism” is the name of the exhibition, which presents pictures by Horst Wagner in the printing museum and display depot in the Benary warehouse until March 28, 2025. From September 6th, the Museum of Thuringian Folklore, in cooperation with the University of Jena, will be showing a show about a very special place: “Garagen | stories. Explorations of an everyday place”. A few days earlier, on September 3rd, the Andreasstrasse memorial and educational center opened an exhibition about the Spanish writer and concentration camp survivor Jorge Semprún. The World of Temptations Foundation is also showing a special exhibition again this year: From August 16th, the exhibition “Be. Like. Me. – Social Media and Me”.

All nature lovers will get their money's worth in the Natural History Museum - an exhibition about local birds of prey is on display here until November 10th and a special exhibition on the topic of "Gardens and Religion?!" in the German Horticultural Museum until October 31st.

The important German photographer Herlinde Koelbl will be exhibiting at the Kunsthalle from September 1st. Various series are presented, such as “Traces of Power”, in which she accompanied political personalities – for example Joschka Fischer and Angela Merkel – over several years. The Angermuseum Erfurt is showing an exhibition by the artist Klaus Armbruster from August 18th and then the exhibition “From Erfurt to the World - The Travel Artist Friedrich Nerly” from November 17th, which is the result of a long-term research and restoration project on the Erfurt artist is. From August 25th, art enthusiasts can look forward to an exhibition by the Erfurt graphic artist and painter Uta Hünniger in the Waidspeicher gallery. Anyone who would like to take a trip can see works on and made from paper by the Leipzig artist Jusche Fret in the Molsdorf Castle Museum until September 29th. Artist Roland Ossmann will then present his “Aquavisions” here from October 20th.
