A fire caused significant disruption to rail traffic yesterday evening. An unknown person set fire to a sound barrier in the Schillerstrasse area around 6 p.m. Due to the extinguishing work, the railway line had to be closed for around 3.5 hours. This not only led to numerous delays in rail traffic, but also to train cancellations. The sound barrier was almost completely destroyed by the fire. The damage is estimated at around 10,000 euros. The criminal police have started an investigation on suspicion of arson. (JN)
