Autumn in Erfurt
On the way to winter
It wasn't long ago that we were of summer feeling . A little later we made the end of it the subject of an article . Consequently, it is now autumn’s turn.
This is a logical conclusion to the previous two seasons. What was created in the spring and grew in the summer is finished in the fall.
This course of nature is also visible in the urban space of a big city. Even mushrooms grow in quieter meadows in the face of high-rise buildings:
Nevertheless, a melancholic aftertaste of transience pervades this scenery.
Here…
...no one will sit down for a long time. On the other hand, summer is undaunted in some corners.
So autumn doesn't look so bad in Erfurt. And especially in a city that is closely linked to horticulture, people are happy about the harvest at the end of a busy season.
But the majority of Erfurt residents don't notice anything about this. Onions are available in the supermarket all year round and so there is something else that makes autumn a communal experience: the trees and their leaves. First they slowly change color...
... only to then change the view of the city for several months as they fall away.
The masses of leaves, on the other hand, pose a certain problem in a city. What is simply left lying around in the wild has to be removed here.
Those entrusted with this task do a lot in the fall to enable the people of Erfurt to walk on clear paths towards winter.
Because he's coming next.
