Just nature and silence

Anyone who lives in Erfurt has not necessarily heard of Hainrode. The place is located in southern Saxony-Anhalt near Sangerhausen. The well-known karst hiking trail runs through the town, but there is no road: Hainrode is at the end of a dead end.

This guarantees peace and quiet.

If you use the car, you can get from Erfurt to Hainrode in just under an hour. It will be difficult with public transport. You can get to Sangerhausen in an hour by train. There is a bus route there. But this is z. B. not served on Sundays. The combination of train and bike remains. From Sangerhausen train station you cycle to Hainrode. This should work every day of the week, as rail traffic between Erfurt and Sangerhausen does.

We explored a circular route around Hainrode and set up there by car. There is a parking space for this at the cemetery.

The almost 10 kilometer long path around the 340 soul place surprises with ever new views of the Lower Harz.

The small forests and valleys complete this natural experience. Anyone looking for variety beyond such joys will be more likely to be disappointed. There is peace, trees and even a bench or a viewing point. You won’t find any man-made “highlights” in Hainrode. This also means you have to bring food with you. The area is rather hesitantly developed for tourism and sometimes it seems as if the paths are not just for hikers. Here we also work in and with nature:

Conclusion:

The town of Hainrode, like the Lower Harz north of Sangerhausen, is a paradise for those seeking peace and quiet. The area is not overcrowded, but not fully developed for tourism either. The visitor moves in a cultural landscape that is still cultivated today. The offer on site is the landscape that has grown in this way, perhaps an open church or even a historic blacksmith shop that is sometimes open, sometimes not. Anyone who is happy with it or is looking for exactly that will be a happy person around Hainrode.
