Crows are everywhere in our city. In many places you can observe the intelligent birds with their big big eyes.

For some time now, ravens have also been living near Erfurt again. This largest European corvid was almost extinct in the 1940s. The birds can live for more than 20 years and live permanently monogamous.

During a bird song hike in the Fahner Heights in 1993, I heard the characteristic call of the raven for the first time. Since then the birds have spread significantly. Common ravens can be observed in the Thuringian Forest, on the Großer Hörselberg, in the Harz and now also in the Steiger. The couple from the Steiger can now often be seen and heard in the sky above the city.
