Alpine flair within sight of Erfurt

The Brocken is the highest mountain in the Harz. By car, Erfurters can reach a parking space as close as possible to the summit in 2 hours. The same time should then be planned for the hike to the destination. The train takes you via Nordhausen to the Brocken station in about 5 hours. Depending on the route you choose, it's around 140 kilometers by bike.

There are three starting points for visitors traveling from Erfurt by car. These are the respective parking spaces in Torfhaus, Oderbrück and Schierke. From here hiking trails lead to the Brocken summit. Of course, the summit can also be reached using a mix of means of transport. By car to Drei Annen Hohne train station and then by train to Brocken. By train to Walkenried and then by bike via Braunlage up the mountain. There are many options that can be adapted to your own interests and needs.

What awaits everyone at the end: a peak beyond the tree line and thus alpine flair not far from the Thuringian state capital. Sometimes even within sight of them:
