On Sunday afternoon, November 26th, 2023, a small van, type Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, overturned at around 2:55 p.m. in the Eisenach-Ost junction on Autobahn 4 in the direction of Dresden. The 44-year-old German driver skidded in the curved area of the motorway entrance due to slippery snow and ice. The vehicle left the road to the right, overturned and came to rest on its side in the ditch. There was a family in the vehicle with a total of two adults and three children. The family members initially sustained minor injuries and were subsequently taken to a hospital for further observation. The van was a total loss. According to current investigations, improper speed in poor visibility and weather conditions is assumed to be the cause of the accident. An investigation was initiated against the driver.
