The current special exhibition “Heinz Zander. Time and Dream”. On this day there will be a curator's tour at 4 p.m. with Prof. Dr. Kai Uwe Schierz.

The Leipzig painter, draftsman and graphic artist Heinz Zander (1939 - 2024) realized two extensive painting commissions for Erfurt in 1981/82 ("Luther Triptych" and "The Great Year of Erfurt"), which - in addition to numerous drawings and prints - today are part of the core collection of the Angermuseum Erfurt. Zander was an artist with great narrative talent, a distinctive visual imagination and a special interest in the upheaval of German history in the transition from the late Middle Ages to the early modern period. To this day, his art thrives on numerous allusions and metaphors, on means of satire and exaggeration.

The retrospective show with 135 works from almost all 60 years of creativity focuses in particular on early works and presents Heinz Zander's entire inventory in the Angermuseum for the first time. 18 private and institutional lenders from Thuringia, Saxony and Berlin support the opulent exhibition. It was created in close cooperation with the Thoms Gallery, Mühlhausen/Thuringia. The project is financially supported by the Friends of the Angermuseum e. V. and the Sparkassenstiftung Erfurt.
