This morning a serious traffic accident occurred on the A4 near Erfurt. The 25-year-old driver of an Opel Corsa used the black exit after the Erfurt-Ost junction to get onto the motorway in the direction of Frankfurt. According to the witnesses, she pulled her car directly into the middle lane without paying attention to the flowing traffic. A 31-year-old was no longer able to slow down or avoid the vehicle. Both road users collided. The impact caused the Opel to overturn and then come to rest on its roof. The young woman was seriously injured. There was material damage of around 12,000 euros. Due to the rescue and recovery measures, the Frankfurt direction was completely closed for around 2.5 hours. After four hours, all three lanes were reopened.

In the backlog there was another rear-end collision between two vehicles around 8 a.m. The driver of a hazardous goods truck reduced his speed due to the backlog from the previous accident. The Polish driver of a tractor-trailer noticed this too late and drove into the back of the tanker. Fortunately, neither driver was injured. The dangerous goods loaded were hydrocarbons. However, no dangerous substances escaped from the tanker. The total amount of material damage caused is currently estimated at 70,000 euros.

In the subsequent accident, the Frankfurt direction had to be completely closed for almost 1.5 hours. There may currently be traffic disruptions as the right and middle lanes in the area of ​​the accident site remain closed due to rescue efforts.
