Cherry Blossom Season

April in the Japanese Garden

Cherry Blossom Splendour and Buzzing Bees in the Japanese Garden at egapark

Erfurt’s egapark has been well known far beyond the city limits – long before the BUGA 2021. Yet on its vast grounds it holds a few hidden gems that tend to go unnoticed. One such treasure is the Japanese Garden on the northern slope of the ega grounds. Its very special beauty reveals itself most vividly in April, when the cherry trees are in full bloom.

Thousands of cherry blossoms in white and pink transform the rocky path through this small enchanted garden into a fragrant, buzzing paradise. The bees have known this place for a long time and are probably already waiting at their hive entrances on April 1st, ready to collect cherry nectar. Catching bees in flight for a photograph is a tricky endeavour – the little honey pioneers simply refuse to stay still!
