From September 5th to October 31st, 2024, the exhibition “Traditional companies in Erfurt - photo treasures from old times awaken memories” can be seen in the rooms of the Erfurt City Archives.

Ulrich Seidel, author and expert on Erfurt's city history, published a book with the same title in the spring of this year. This publication is the basis for the exhibition.

Ulrich Seidel takes the viewer on an entertaining journey into the fascinating economic history of Erfurt and presents richly illustrated traditional companies in the city. This nostalgic look back guarantees a reunion with long-established companies, businesses and entrepreneurial personalities. The names Hagans, Henry Pels, Optima and Funkwerk are still familiar to many people in Erfurt.

On September 4th at 5 p.m., the city archives invite you to the opening of the exhibition as part of the Monument Days, where Ulrich Seidel will also show company stories that could not be included in the exhibition or book for editorial reasons.

The exhibition can be viewed during the opening hours of the city archives at Gotthardtstrasse 21: Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
