Last swimming weekend, variety of dahlias and fantastic pumpkin world in the egapark

Summer will say goodbye next week, but at the weekend temperatures will climb again towards the 30 degree mark. The paddling pools in the egapark, which are open until September 8th, also offer cooling off. The children's swimming area at the GärtnerReich playground is particularly popular with families with small children. This weekend is the last chance for swimming fun this year.
But the egapark offers much more for the whole family at the weekend.

The story book will be opened under the reading tree on Saturday at 3 p.m. “When the water stopped singing…” – Antje Horn tells these fairy tales from Korea and participation is welcome. What is the story about? The ruler UNZEY lives up in heaven. He is bored and therefore passes the time with his girlfriend DÜRRE. They play... first for the stars in the sky, then for the waters of the earth... the waterfalls, the rivers, the streams, the ponds, the lakes, the springs and the oceans. The water on earth is becoming scarce and the animals are thirsty. Is there salvation?

Fantasy pumpkin world

Before or after the reading tree stories there is the pumpkin exhibition to discover. Until October 31st, ten mythical creatures made from pumpkins can be marveled at by pumpkin fans big and small: Dragon, Unicorn, Troll, Elf, Medusa, Peter Pan, Phoenix, Pikachu, Pumuckl and Gandalf stop off at the Philippswiese in the egapark. This is the perfect backdrop for great photos and a fabulous trip for the whole family through the colorful world of pumpkins! Everyone can discover their favorite character and capture it in a picture with their smartphone or camera.

Choosing the most beautiful dahlia

275 varieties of dahlias transform the egapark into a sea of shapes and colors with their magnificent flowers from summer until the onset of frost. In yellow, white, red, pink or violet, shades of brown or flamed in two colors, the exotic flowers are a splash of color in late summer, a frequently chosen photo motif and particularly popular with visitors. This year, visitors again have the opportunity to vote for the “Most Beautiful Dahlia”. At the Thuringian Garden Days you can make your choice for the first time. The cards for voting are available in the visitor center and everyone can then choose their favorite until October 31, 2024. The varieties are marked with signs. You can win three vouchers with 25 euros in credit each, which can be redeemed at the egapark cash registers or in the visitor shop.
