The Luisenpark Erfurt
One park – three names
Luisenpark is often referred to as Dreibrunnen Park. Anyone who visits the park without knowing will also see the Dendrological Garden, which was created during the GDR era, as part of the Luisenpark or Dreibrunnenpark. That would be two places and three names for a fine, but also rather small park.
That's a lot and also leads to irritation: There are said to be couples in Erfurt who have been arguing for years about whether they had their first meeting in Luisenpark or Dreibrunnenpark.
When they find out that they were actually in the dentrological garden at the controversial time, things don't necessarily get any better. Dendrology is the study of woody plants.
That's why we count the trees and shrubs on the western slope of the park as Luisenpark. From here a path leads to Hochheim, where there is a well with three springs.
Welcome to Luisenpark.
Anyone who enters it coming from the city will first meet this lady:
The sculpture is appropriately titled “Reclining Nude” and, like “The Guitar Player and His Listening Girl”...
...the handwriting of the GDR. This is also clearly visible in the western part of the park, which opened in the early 1960s:
But we'll get there later. The flood ditch with its stony bank is definitely beautiful.
Even without a fishing rod, you can spend a quiet evening here and children who have already tried everything out on the park's own playground will certainly find other areas of activity there.
Otherwise, the eastern part of the park is a lot of meadow with interesting trees.
The western part was created as a dendrological garden. Although there is also a large lawn here,…
...but the garden character is clearly visible. Romantic paths…
…lead to places like this:
The origin of this part of the Luisenpark as a dendrological garden means that special and rare trees and plants can be found here.
This part is also characterized by a gentle slope. The lower eastern part of Luisenpark should therefore be visited for ball games and the like.
The way there leads over this bridge:
And that brings us back to the beginning of this article. Do you remember? Exactly, it was about names and couples. Couples arguing. If this leads to a separation, the love locks will remain attached to the bridge in Luisenpark. Forever and for quite a long time, because the keys end up in the water. If you are less romantic or just cautious, this love lock model is recommended:
Please be sure to keep the separation code in a safe place!
