Where does the Christmas market take place in Erfurt?

Most visitors first come to Cathedral Square . This is where the heart of the Erfurt Christmas markets beats against the fascinating medieval backdrop. The impressive sight of Erfurt Cathedral creates a particularly homely and romantic atmosphere. Which city can compete with a festively illuminated 81 meter high building from the Middle Ages? OK, Strasbourg maybe – but that’s going too far.

In addition to the cathedral square, there are other market towns hidden in Erfurt's medieval old town. Each of them has its own special charm. When you arrive, you can enjoy your first mulled wine right on the station forecourt. For better orientation, so to speak. We continue over the Anger and the Schlösserbrücke. You can choose between chocolate tools, Thuringian bratwurst, waffles, sheepskins, poinsettias and Finnish honey. You will soon reach the fish market; right in the heart of the old town. Here you can take real Thuringian red sausage with you and enjoy the view of the neo-Gothic town hall with another mulled wine. A little further you can stroll relaxed through the Wenigemarkt, right next to the famous Krämerbrücke. If you manage to get past the Augustiner behind the Krämerbrücke without a fruit mulled wine, our hats off to you. And now the last piece to Cathedral Square. There is so much to do here that a Christmas market day like this is far too short.
