The railway line between Erfurt, Arnstadt and Suhl is currently a focus of the federal police's tasks in local transport. There have been an increasing number of reports and findings in the area of ​​fare and property crimes in recent months. The Federal Police is trying to counteract the phenomena with various measures in close coordination with the railway companies and their security service providers. One visible measure is, among other things, increased uniform patrols on this local transport route.

A man was checked yesterday morning as part of railway police patrol activity on this connection. When the police database was searched, personal information became known that made the patrol particularly sensitive to the 41-year-old German.

When they checked the backpack they were carrying, the federal police discovered a loaded revolver that was capable of firing. Of the 30 rounds of ammunition carried, -6- were in the weapon. In addition, the search of the luggage revealed -2- one-hand knives, -3- crossbow arrows and cash amounting to 5,000 euros. The weapon's serial number was obliterated.

The person was temporarily arrested. The man had already had to deal with various police authorities in the past due to violations of a supervisory authority, driving without a license, a violation of the narcotics law, gang theft, counterfeiting of money and bodily harm.

The 41-year-old was handed over to the Erfurt Criminal Police Inspectorate for follow-up measures. After completing all the requirements of the criminal procedure, the judiciary decided that the man should be released. The weapons, ammunition and knives were seized.

In the current case, the person is being investigated for violating the Weapons Act.
